Reharq and the Getxo Tourist Office (Bizkaia), have created a highly ambitious and innovative project for the tourism sector. A new way to explore Getxo and its places, through 14 famous people from the village. Each character´s life and legacy inspires a walking route and underlines a theme: architecture, urban planning, nature...
We propose an exciting and innovative way to explore the hidden gems of Getxo thanks to the 14 influential Getxotarras (A born and breed Getxo resident).
At the beginning of the project we had to create the name of the project and the visual universe of the routes. We chose a neologism for the name that included both, the idea of walking routes ("a pie" in spanish), and its connection with ordinary people (in spanish, gente "de a pie") throughout the intriguing history of Getxo. The name is also family friendly, approachable and highly distinguishable name in comparison with others in its very same category. Visually speaking, linear illustrations and flat colours create colourful pieces that stand out among the run of the mill tourist-office brochures.
Identity, Naming. Editorial, packaging
Regarding the design of the maps, we were looking for a special touch, something different. Each character has its own colour, and starting from the usual folds of a city map, we designed a system to highlight the sections within each map thus obtaining a more visual, ordered and wholesome piece. Much more pleasing to the eye and easy to handle for the person doing the route.
To complete the experience we have developed a piece to hold 3 maps. A brochure to place the maps in, so that we facilitate the option of carrying several maps, in addition to being able to generate groups of three routes around themes or interests of the user. A container box has also been designed for collectors and walkers.
